Scoreboard: Boston University 2, Holy Cross 0, Worcester, Mass., 8/26
Schedule: Friday, Sept. 2 vs. Dartmouth, Worcester, Mass., 7:30 p.m.

  • The Holy Cross men's soccer team returns to action on Friday, Sept. 2 when it hosts Dartmouth for its second-consecutive contest under the lights at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. against the Big Green. The Friday night game serves as Dartmouth's season opener as it played in an exhibition game against Franklin Pierce this past weekend.
  • The Crusaders and Big Green have only met three times in program history, with Dartmouth earning wins in all three contests. The Big Green reentered the Crusaders' schedule last season as Holy Cross lost 4-1 in Hanover, N.H. Dartmouth last visited Worcester in 2003, taking a 3-2 win.
  • Freshman Michael Thompson (Cromwell, Conn.) became the first newcomer since 2001 to start in goal for a Holy Cross season opener. Former player Richard Whipple was the last freshman to get the start in net 10 years ago. Thompson answered the challenge by allowing two goals through on nine shot attempts. He also made five saves for a .714 save percentage.
  • Sophomore Josh Cintas (San Diego, Calif.) returned to the field after spending his freshman season out with an injury and instantly showed off his offensive capabilities. Cintas tied for the team-high with two shot attempts but maintained the tempo of the offense for most of the game, as he was also a presence on most of the team's free kicks.
