WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior soccer player Vincent Garofalo (Glenwood, Md.) has been selected to the 2010 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District I men's soccer second team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The team is comprised of players from Division I schools in the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. This is the first time Garofalo has earned the honor.
A member of the 2008 and 2009 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, Garofalo has made 16 starts in 16 appearances as a defender this season. He is a big part of the Crusaders defense that has recorded five shutouts and has allowed just over 1.5 goals-per-game. Academically, he has a 3.40 grade point average and is majoring in Economics.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Nov. 6 for its final league contest against Army. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium in Worcester, Mass.
