WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross sophomore Evan Polanik (Holliston, Mass.) has been selected as the BRINE Patriot League men's soccer Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time in two weeks. Polanik helped the Crusaders shutout soccer powerhouse Northwestern in the Lakeside Classic this past weekend, as Holy Cross won the game 1-0.
Polanik earned All-Tournament honors at the Lakeside Classic, hosted by Northwestern last weekend. He finished with a 1-1 record, including a 1-0 shutout of the host Wildcats on Sunday. Polanik stopped six shots in the two games and posted a .750 save percentage in 180 minutes of action.
On the season, Polanik has played 560 minutes for Holy Cross while posting a 1.12 goals-against average. He also has 33 saves on the season and an 82.5 percent saves average.
Holy Cross will open Patriot League competition next, traveling to Lafayette on Saturday, Sept. 25. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium in Easton, Pa.
