WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross sophomore Evan Polanik (Holliston, Mass.) has been selected as the BRINE Patriot League men's soccer Goalkeeper of the Week after recording 16 saves in the two games of the Dartmouth Classic this past weekend. Polanik helped the Crusaders win the Dartmouth Classic as he was honored as the goalkeeping MVP.
Polanik earned the goalkeeping MVP award with a 1-0-1 record in the Dartmouth Classic. He recorded two shutouts, blanking Stony Brook 3-0 on Friday and making a career-high 10 saves in a scoreless tie against San Diego on Sunday.
So far this season, Polanik has played 380 minutes for Holy Cross while posting a 1.18 goals-against average. He also has 27 saves on the season and an 84.4 percent saves average.
The Crusaders will travel to the Chicago area next to compete in the Lakeside Classic, hosted by Northwestern. Tournament action opens up at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17 against Northern Illinois. All games will be played on Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill.
