Peter Whooley Earns First Annual Men's Soccer Luke Dunivant Award

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior men's soccer player Peter Whooley (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) was honored as the first annual Luke Dunivant award recipient prior to the team's game against Lehigh Saturday. The award was established in memory of Luke Dunivant, former men's soccer player and member of Holy Cross' class of 1997.

Luke Dunivant passed away in 2008 after a courageous battle with leukemia. The award, from this year out, will be presented annually to a member of the men's soccer team who, like Luke, has inspired others by displaying outstanding courage, commitment to the team and sportsmanship during his career at Holy Cross. The award was presented to Whooley by Luke's former classmate, Jay McNamara (1997), Luke's wife, Denise, his parents, Bob and Chris Dunivant and head coach Ted Priestly.

Holy Cross competes against its final non-conference opponent this Wednesday, Oct. 21. The Boston College Eagles come to town for the Crusaders' final night game, starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium in Worcester, Mass.
