WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross men's soccer senior goalkeeper Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) and freshman forward/midfielder Shane Regan (Quincy, Mass.), have been named the BRINE Patriot League Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week for their performances in the team's two victories against Albany and Colgate this past week. This is the first time since 2005 that two Crusaders have won awards in the same week.
"Tom and Shane each had a strong showing this week," said head coach Ted Priestly. "I know that both of them will agree that the most important part of the week was the fact that we won. I know that these awards will give the entire team confidence as we head into another challenging week."
Booth recorded his 13th and 14th career shutouts in the wins over Albany and Colgate. He made nine saves during the week, including seven stops against defending Patriot League champion Colgate. It was the second time in Booth's career that he notched back-to-back shutouts. His award also marks the third time he taken home the weekly award while at Holy Cross.
Regan produced a goal in each of the Crusaders' two wins last week. He scored his first career goal in the 46th minute of the 1-0 triumph over Albany. He then added another game-winner against Colgate just two minutes into the game. He now leads the team in scoring with two goals and four points.
The Crusaders travel to their third Boston-based opponent, the No. 8-ranked Harvard Crimson, on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Ohiri Field in Cambridge, Mass.
