Holy Cross Men's Soccer Upended By Bryant, 1-0

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by Bryant this evening at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium in Worcester, Mass. With the loss, the Crusaders drop to 0-2 on the season while the Bulldogs improve their record to 1-3.

The teams played a scoreless first half with neither gaining much of an advantage. Holy Cross held a slight edge in shots by a 5-4 mark. Bryant broke through in the 73rd minute when Neil Black blasted a shot past Crusader senior Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) from the left corner of the penalty box just inside 18 yards out into the right side of the net. Black's goal was unassisted. Holy Cross spent the rest of the game on the attack but could not convert. The Crusaders finished with a 13-7 edge in shots.

Bryant netminder Matt Miscione finished with four saves in the game while Booth made two stops for Holy Cross.

Holy Cross will continue action on Saturday, Sept. 12 on the road against Central Connecticut. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Central Connecticut Soccer Field in New Britain, Conn.
