Holy Cross Men's Soccer Names 2009 Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's soccer program has named senior Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.), senior Peter Siclari (Providence, R.I.) and junior Kyle Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) as 2009 team captains. All three players return from a team that appeared in the 2008 Patriot League Championship game.

A goaltender, Booth enjoyed a breakout season in 2008, starting all 19 matches last season.  He finished with a 9-5-5 record, making a career-high 76 saves and allowing just 16 goals, second best in Holy Cross history. Booth concluded the regular season ranked 33rd in the NCAA in goals against average (0.79) and save percentage (.826), and 82nd in saves per game (4.0). He posted a 0.79 goals against average overall and notched a career-high seven shutouts. He was named second team All-Patriot League, and was honored twice last season as Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week.  

Siclari, a backliner, will be called upon by head coach Ted Priestly for steady leadership on defense. The senior saw action in four games last season and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. He has appeared in seven matches in his Holy Cross career, starting once, and tallying five shots.

A junior, Miller has played in 36 matches at Holy Cross, starting all of them, including 19 last season at forward. He led the Crusaders in scoring in 2008 with nine goals and 18 points. Miller was named to the All-Patriot League first team, was named Patriot League Player of the Week twice, and finished the regular season ranked 66th in the NCAA in goals per game (0.47). Miller was honored as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2007.

The Crusaders will return 22 players from a team that finished 9-5-5 last season, and welcome six freshmen in 2009.
