WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. and head men's soccer coach Ted Priestly have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2009 season. Holy Cross is scheduled to play a total of 16 games this season, including eight home contests at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium and four games against teams which advanced to the 2008 NCAA Tournament (Boston College, Boston University, Colgate and Harvard).
The Crusaders will open the season at Providence (Sept. 5) and then play their home-opener against Bryant (Sept. 8). Following games at Central Connecticut (Sept. 12) and Northeastern (Sept. 15), Holy Cross will play a home game versus Sacred Heart (Sept. 19). After an away game against defending America East Tournament champion Boston University (Sept. 23), the Crusaders will take on Lafayette (Sept. 26), Albany (Sept. 29) and defending Patriot League Tournament champion Colgate (Oct. 3) all at home.
Following games at Harvard (Oct. 7) and Bucknell (Oct. 10), Holy Cross will play home contests versus Boston College (Oct. 13) and Lehigh (Oct. 17). The Crusaders will conclude the regular season with a game at Navy (Oct. 25), a home game versus American (Oct. 31) and an away contest with Army (Nov. 7).
The Patriot League Tournament is set for Nov. 13-15, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will take part in the tournament.
