Aug. 15, 2006
Worcester, Mass.- Pat Godfrey '00, a former member of Holy Cross men's rowing team, has been selected as a competitor in the FISA World Championships taking place later this month. Godfrey's event is the men's pair with coxswain.
Godfrey, who now competes with the Pennsylvania Athletic Club, qualified for the World Championships with Colby graduate Ted Farwell and coxswain Vince Puma. The crew swept their competition in two races at the World Championship Trials earlier this month to earn their spot on the national roster.
While at Holy Cross, Godfrey served as Captain for the 1999-2000 men's rowing team and was a member of the Patriot League Champion varsity eight. He also participated in the Championship International Regatta, where Holy Cross took second place.
The FISA World Championships will be held August 20-27 in Eton, England. The United States team will have a total of 85 participants on 26 crews.
