Philadelphia, Pa. - The men's and women's rowing teams competed at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday, October 30th, the day was a raw and, damp, with a steady head wind down the Schuylkill River.
The first boat to race for Holy Cross was the men's open club eight. The boat placed 12th with a time of 14:01, beating Union and Lehigh.
One of the major highlights of the day was the women's open club eight race. Holy Cross pulled off a strong row which proved to be the boat's best performance yet, coming in only 12 seconds behind fifth-place Rhode Island.
The men's heavy champ eight rowed through three boats to place ninth, defeating Pennsylvania, Temple and Drexel, and clocking in only eight seconds behind St. Joe's.
The men's lightweight eight had a smooth row and placed sixth, beating Delaware and Lehigh, and were just 19 seconds from Marietta.
The women's heavy championship eight were technically sound and finished with a 15:32.76, 10 second behind Fordham and beating Connecticut and St. Joe's.
Despite the long day and late races, the Crusaders finished with a solid performance. The Head of the Schuylkill proved to be a successful way to end the fall season.
