WORCESTER, Mass. - The College of the Holy Cross men's rowing team had two boats take part in the Eastern Sprints, held at Lake Quinsigimond. The varsity eight won the third-level final to finish in 13th place overall, while the lightweight eight earned an 11th-place finish.
The varsity eight earned a fifth-place finish in its morning heat, with a time of 6:20.255. The Crusaders then moved on to the third-level final, where they captured first place with a time of 6:03.019, to finish 13th overall. Princeton took first place overall in the event with a time of 5:41.592 in the grand final.
The lightweight eight had a time of 6:30.892 in its morning heat, to earn a sixth-place finish. Holy Cross then went on to place fifth in the petite final with a time of 6:58.162, to finish in 11th place overall. Princeton won the petite final in a time of 6:36.540, while Cornell claimed first place overall in the event with a time of 5:53.201 in the grand final.
The Holy Cross men's rowing team will conclude the 2005-2006 season from June 1-3, when the varisty eight and the second varsity eight take part in the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Regatta on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
