Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's rowing team hosted Delaware on Saturday afternoon at Lake Quinnsigamond. The Crusaders varsity eight boat of coxswain Mary Carol Madigan and rowers Adam Furlong, Daniel McGlinn, Erick Winstead, Garrett Pearce, James Eagan, Wade Lucas, Grant O'Connell and Christian Bratton finished first in their race with a time of 6:29, followed by Delaware with a time of 6:33.5.
In the second varsity eight race, Delaware recorded a first-place time of 6:39.5 while Holy Cross' boat of coxswain Chris Hayden and rowers Terry Therrien, D.J. Estes, Charles Ullman, Justin Howlett, Eddie Pinero, Peter Haney, Ron Paranal and Christopher Sieck finished in second with a time of 6:43.3.
In the novice eight race, Delaware's heavyweight boat finished first with a time of 6:37.3, followed by the Delaware lightweight boat in second (6:56.5) and Holy Cross' boat of coxswain Thomas Wilde and rowers Tom Gallant, Sean Corwen, Trevor Zaleski, Dan Ryan, Peter Dwyer, Richard Sullivan, Colin Hayes and Patrick Kokszka in third (7:09.3).
Delaware placed first in the third varsity eight with a time of 7:07.8, followed by Holy Cross' boat of coxswain Joelle Castro and rowers Teddy Doyle, Steve Burison, Tucker Wade, Kevin Smith, Matthew Achariam, Steven Coletti, Thaddeus Logan and Thomas Bonnel with a time of 7:33.3.
The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, May 10, hosting the Eastern Spirits at Lake Quinnsigamond.
