WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's rowing teams were victorious in a combined eight of nine races on the day as they hosted Coast Guard, Mount Holyoke and Wesleyan on Saturday at Lake Quinsigamond.
Rowing into a strong headwind all morning, the Crusader men took first in all four of their races. The best time of the day came from the men's first varsity eight boat, which finished in a time of 6:25.1, beating the Wesleyan boat by nine seconds.
Other men's winners including the second varsity eight (6:38.1) and the third varsity eight (7:09.1). Also, the men's novice eight boat edged Coast Guard in a time of 6:46.7.
For the women, one of the highlights of the morning was the first place finish of first varsity eight with a time of 7:31.9 beating out Mount Holyoke by just under 11 seconds.
The women's second varsity eight won with a time of 7:44.9 and the women's third varsity eight took first in 8:50.2. The women's novice eight boat won in a time of 8:47.4 as the varsity four boat took second to Mount Holyoke.
Both teams will be racing again tommorrow in Pelham, N.Y. The men will take on Columbia and the women will race Columbia, Massachusetts and Colgate.
