Rowing Teams Begin Spring Season At Jesuit Regatta

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Holy Cross men's and women's rowing teams began their spring season on Saturday at the Jesuit Regatta Invitational. Leading the way was the women's freshman four, which took first overall in their division over Saint Joseph's, Georgetown (A and B) and Loyola.
The freshmen boat finished the 2000-meter race in a time of 7:51.00.
In the other women's races, the Crusaders took second overall with the varsity four (7:42.69) and the second varsity eight (7:21.07) boats. The first varsity eight team took fourth place overall with a time of 7:09.60.
The highlight of the day for the men was the finish of the varsity eight boat in a time of 5:55.55, just under five seconds behind the winner Georgetown.
With a time of 6:20.00, the men's second varsity eight team had a third place finish. The lightweight eight boat raced to a third place finish, 15 seconds off the lead pace.
Both the men and women will be racing next in Worcester on March 25. The men's teams will take on UMass-Lowell, Boston College, and Rhode Island in lightweight competition as the women will host UMass-Lowell and Simmons College.
