Lynett came to Holy Cross from Scranton Preparatory School and joined the men's novice team his freshman year having no prior rowing experience. He stroked the 2nd Freshman boat throughout the 2005 season. In 2006, he was part of the lightweight varsity eight that won gold in both the 2nd varsity eight and lightweight division of the Patriot Challenge and finished second at the New England Championship. In 2007, he was a member of the 2nd varsity eight that finished first at the Knetch Cup and second at the Jesuit Invitational regatta. He also rowed in the Eastern Sprints and the IRA National Championship during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He is a political science major and has served as both vice-president for his class and the speaker of the Holy Cross Student Senate.
