WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Holy Cross men's rowing team competed at the George Washington Invitational on the Potomac River as the Crusaders took on the Florida Institute of Technology, Navy, George Washington and Georgetown. The second varsity eight earned victories versus FIT and George Washington. The Crusaders finished fifth out of six teams with 27 points. Navy won the Oliver T. Carr Bowl with 114 points.

On Friday, the Crusaders competed against the Florida Institute of Technology. FIT's No. 20 varsity eight boat posted a time of 5:51.10 as Holy Cross tallied a time of 5:53.40. The second varsity eight placed first with a time of 5:58.70, while FIT placed second with a time of 6:01.60 and the Crusaders' third varsity eight boat placed third with a time of 6:05.60.

"We had our best racing of the season against FIT," said head coach Todd Pearson. "All three boats raced really hard against a very good FIT squad The varsity eight and second varsity eight races played out very similarly with FIT gaining about a half-boat length lead in the first 1000m. In the second varsity eight race we were able to work our way back to even and then pull away in the sprint. Unfortunately, the FIT varsity answered every surge our varsity eight had and was able to stay about 6-7 seats ahead of us through the line."

On Saturday morning, Navy won all three races versus the Crusaders. Navy's No. 10 varsity eight boat posted a time of 5:33.40 as the Crusaders tallied a time of 5:45.46. Navy's freshman eight won its race with a time of 5:45.60, while Navy's third varsity eight placed second with a time of 5:53.52 and the Crusaders placed third with a time of 6:08.58.
