Men's Rowing To Start Season At The Snake Regatta

Saturday, Oct. 15 at Snake Regatta, Worcester, Mass., 8:30 a.m.

  • The Holy Cross men's rowing team will start its 2011 fall schedule at the Snake Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday, Oct. 15. Last year, Holy Cross' varsity eight placed first out of 20 boats. Go here for the schedule.
  • Holy Cross will compete at the 47th Head of the Charles Regatta on Oct. 22-23. Go here for the schedule.
  • The Crusaders will be led by junior captain Mike Walker (Monson, Mass.). Last season, Walker was a member of the second varsity eight that placed first in a race versus Gonzaga and Georgetown at the George Washington Invitational. Walker then rowed with the varsity eight in victories over Bucknell and fellow EARC member Rutgers. He then competed with the varsity eight at the Eastern Sprints. During his rookie season in 2009-2010, he was a member of the freshman eight. His boat finished first with the Crusaders' novice 'A' boat at the Quinsigamond Novice Challenge, won two of three races at the George Washington Invitational, defeating UC San Diego in the first race and George Washington and Gonzaga in the third race, and then won dual-races versus Bucknell and Rutgers.
