Crusaders Set For George Washington Invitational

  • The Crusaders return to action when they travel to Washington, D.C., to compete at the 24th annual George Washington Invitational Regatta on April 9-10, on the Potomac River. On Saturday morning, the freshman eight will race versus two George Washington boats at 10:00 a.m., the second varsity eight will race versus George Washington at 10:24 a.m. and the varsity eight will race versus George Washington and Oxford at 10:48 a.m. On Saturday afternoon, the freshman eight will compete versus two Navy boats at 2:44 p.m., the second varsity eight will compete versus two Navy boats at 3:08 p.m. and the varsity eight will row versus Navy at 3:32 p.m. On Sunday, all three Holy Cross boats will race versus Georgetown and Gonzaga. The freshman eight race is at 10:36 a.m., the second varsity eight race is at 10:52 a.m. and the varsity eight race is at 11:08 a.m. Go here for the schedule.
  • The Crusaders, who received three votes in the USRowing men's varsity eight poll on March 30, will race versus three nationally ranked varsity eight crews. Navy is No. 13, Georgetown is No. 18 and George Washington is No. 19.
  • Last year, the Crusaders placed sixth out of eight teams at the George Washington Invitational. The freshman eight won two of its three races at the regatta. Cornell won the Oliver T. Carr Bowl with 117 points. Navy also had 117 points but Cornell won the title by having the faster time in the varsity eight race.  
  • After the George Washington Invitational, the Crusaders will take on Georgetown (April 16) in Princeton, N.J. Holy Cross will return to Lake Quinsigamond for a match up with Bucknell (April 23) and then hit the road to compete versus Rutgers (April 30). Lake Quinsigamond will once again be the venue for the Eastern Sprints (May 15) as the Crusaders will compete against some of the best teams in the nation. Holy Cross will conclude the season pending qualification at the IRA National Championship (June 2-4) in Camden, N.J.
