PRINCETON, N.J. – The Holy Cross men's rowing team competed in two races at the Princeton Chase Regatta on Lake Carnegie on Sunday.
Holy Cross "A" placed 24th out of 38 boats in the varsity heavyweight eight race with a time of 14:02.243, while Holy Cross "B" finished 32nd with a time of 14:29.085. Princeton "A" won with a time of 13:06.187. The Crusaders (15:26.626) finished 26th out of 33 boats in the freshman eight race as Princeton "A" (13:23.992) placed first.
"We had a pretty good day at Princeton," said Holy Cross head coach Todd Pearson. "The varsity made up a lot of time on our competition compared to last week and if not for an equipment issue, could have been even faster. I was especially happy with the performance of the second varsity as it was probably the best showing by a HC second varsity since 2006-2007 and definitely the best during my tenure as head coach. They raced hard and beat a lot of really good crews. Our freshmen got their first taste of EARC competition and continue to improve every time they go out on the water. Racing this weekend should prepare them well for next weekend's green monster regatta."
The Crusaders return to action when they conclude the fall season at the Green Monster Regatta on Saturday, Nov. 6, in Hanover, N.H.
