Men's Rowing Holds Inaugural Golf Outing
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's rowing team held its inaugural golf outing on Friday, May 14 at the Leicester Country Club. Forty-four golfers took to the links for a shotgun start beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a dinner. The winning team consisted of Drew Cutney '97, Frank Cutney P'97, Michael Walker P'13 and John O'Connor '98. Their winning score was two under par, just defeating Holy Cross Hall of Famer Tom Sullivan '70, Richard Simitis '66, head coach Todd Pearson '98 and Gary Caldwell, Director of Rowing for the ECAC, by one stroke. Caldwell was the closest to the pin winner as his tee shot on the 12th hole was 11'5" from the hole. He won a $100 gift certificate to Sachs Jewelers.
“It was encouraging to see so many friends of the rowing program at our inaugural golf outing,” said Pearson. “I was especially pleased to see people from such a range of class years, from the 1960's through the Class of 2009. Many of the attendees stayed through the weekend and were on the shores of Lake Quinsigamond cheering on the current men's squad on Sunday as they raced at the Eastern Sprints. I really appreciated the support from our alumni, parents and friends for our program - their presence was felt all weekend long.”
