GOLD RIVER, Calif. - The Holy Cross men's rowing team competed at day two of the 107th IRA National Championship at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma on Friday. The varsity eight of sophomore coxswain Mary Carol Madigan (Kenilworth, Ill.), senior stroke Adam Furlong (Pittstown, N.J.), junior Garrett Pearce (Haworth, N.J.), senior Erick Winstead (Fairfield, Conn.), junior Daniel McGlinn (Ambler, Pa.), sophomore Grant O'Connell (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.), senior Wade Lucas (Portland, Maine), senior James Eagan (Norwich, Conn.) and senior Christian Bratton (Philadelphia, Pa.) raced in the semifinals against three nationally ranked teams.
The Crusaders finished fifth in their semifinal heat with a time of 6:22.93. No. 13 Navy won the race with a time of 6:11.60, followed by No. 16 Oregon State (6:14.16), San Diego (6:14.37) and No. 18 Pennsylvania (6:15.91).
The varsity eight will conclude competition on June 6 with the fourth level final.
