Men's Lacrosse Lands Five On League Academic Team

Worcester, Mass. - Five players on the Holy Cross men's lacrosse team were named to the 2005 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced today by Patriot League Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich. Sophomore David Vafek (Michalovce, Slovakia) led the Crusaders with a 3.48 grade point average for the Spring semester.

Also representing Holy Cross on the academic honor roll are seniors Edmond Yip (Providence, R.I.) and Derek Lemly (Madison, Conn.), sophomore Tanner Fogarty (McMurray, Pa.) and freshman Tim Redmond (Andover, Mass.).

Overall, a total of 53 student-athletes were selected to the men's lacrosse conference honor roll for the 2005 academic year.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports.

A total of 863 student-athletes were named to the League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, including 53 with 4.0 grade point averages. The Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor track & field, baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, men's golf, women's rowing and men's and women's outdoor track & field.
