Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2005 season with its annual End of the Season Banquet on Saturday, April 30. Head Coach Adam Pascal handed out team awards and named next season's captains.
Senior Pat Hart (Wyckoff, N.J.) received the John H. Price Award, given to the player who most demonstrated the legacy of Price, a former captain who exemplified the Holy Cross spirit as "A Man for Other". The midfielder played in all 14 games and posted five assists.
Receiving the Joseph M. Murphy III Rookie of the Year Award was long-stick midfielder James Malone (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), while senior Dan Atchinson (Lexington, Mass.) picked up the Most Improved Player of the Year Award. As a long-stick midfielder, Malone appeared in 13 games this past season.
Junior Patrick McCurdy (Brightwaters, N.Y.) was honored with the Unsung Player Award. The midfielder netted one goal and added two this season. Receiving the Coaches Award was senior Pat Sullivan (Winchester, Mass.), who saw action in 10 games this past season from the midfield position.
Earning team Defensive Most Valuable Player was senior Derek Lemley (Madison, Conn.). The long-stick midfielder appeared in all 14 games, recording five assists. Receiving the team Offensive Player of the Year award was senior Mike McKee (Sloatsburg, N.Y.). From attack, McKee lead the Crusaders in points (33) and assists (24), and added nine goals on the season.
