WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior midfielder Luke Marchand (Concord, Mass.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from April 6-12. Marchand led the Holy Cross men's lacrosse team to a 2-0 record on the week, with victories over Vermont and Marist.
During Tuesday's 12-11 double overtime win at Vermont, Marchand tied for the team-lead with three goals scored. Two of his goals against the Catamounts came in the fourth quarter, including one with only 39 seconds remaining in regulation. Marchand then scored one goal in Saturday's 9-4 home victory over Marist.
On the season, Marchand now ranks sixth on the team in scoring with nine points on six goals and three assists. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he has totaled 35 goals and 13 assists for 48 points in 54 games played.
The Crusaders (3-9 overall, 0-5 Patriot League) return to action on Tuesday, April 14, when they play host to Lehigh at 4:00 p.m. in their final home game of the 2009 season.
