WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior goalie Jimmy Harrison (East Williston, N.Y.) and freshman Matt Moran (West Henrietta, N.Y.) received Patriot League Men's Lacrosse weekly honors, for their performances in the 7-6 win at Yale on February 24. Harrison was named the Goalie of the Week, while Moran was named the Rookie of the Week. The Crusaders are 2-0 and are ranked fifth in the New England Coaches Poll. This is Holy Cross' best start since going 4-0 in 1985. The win was Holy Cross' first ever victory against Yale.
Harrison made a career best 22 saves in the win and his .786 save percentage was the fourth best save percentage in a single-game in school history. Harrison was previously named the New England Player of the Week for his performance. His 5.50 goals against average and .744 save percentage currently lead the Patriot League.
Moran scored three goals at Yale including his first collegiate game-winning goal. He leads the team in goals with four, while he is tied with the team-lead in points with four. Moran is also tied for the most goals by a freshman in the Patriot League.
The Crusaders return to action when they open the Patriot League season on Saturday, March 1, when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to take on Lehigh at noon.
