The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team (0-1) will host Yale (0-0) at the Hart Turf Field on Saturday, Feb. 21 at noon. Last year, the Crusaders defeated Yale by a score of 7-6 on Feb. 24 in New Haven, Conn. The win was Holy Cross' first ever over a school from the Ivy League. Yale had won the previous first seven contests starting in 1965.
In the win last year at Yale, Matt Moran (West Henrietta, N.Y.) scored three goals including the game-winner and goalie Jimmy Harrison (East Williston, N.Y.) made a career best 22 saves. Harrison's .786 save percentage in the win was the fourth best save percentage in a single-game in school history. Moran was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, while Harrison earned New England Player of the Week and Patriot League Goalie of the Week honors. Adam Pascal was also named the Men's US Lacrosse Coach of the Week following the victory.
This game will be the season-opener for Yale as it is coming off a 4-10 overall season and a 0-6 record in the conference.
Last week against St. John's, freshman Colin McGeehin (Newtown Square, Pa.) scored his first collegiate goal.
Against St. John's, Harrison made 20 saves.
