WEST HAVEN, Conn.- The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Yale, 10-4, this evening in non conference action at Johnson Field. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-9 overall, while the Bulldogs improve to 4-5. Senior Patrick McCurdy (Brightwaters, N.Y) and sophomore Toby Banta (Melrose, Mass.) each scored two goals for the Crusaders. Yale had 10 different goal scorers.
Banta scored his first goal of the game to give Holy Cross a 1-0 lead with a little more than five minutes left in the first period. The Bulldogs would then go onto to score 10 straight goals as they scored two in the first period, four in the second and four in the third to take a 10-1 lead late into the third period.
Banta scored his second goal of the game and fifth of the season with 3:05 left in the period to make it a 10-2 game. McCurdy would then score his first two goals of the season to round out the scoring for the game.
Senior goalie Matt Fallon (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) made five saves in the first 39:39, while freshman Jimmy Harrison (East Williston, N.Y.), who entered the game late in the third period, stopped three shots in 12:39. Junior David Vafek (Michalovce, Slovakia) made one save in 7:42. Yale's George Carafides made seven saves and Joe Costa stopped one.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, April 8, when they host Patriot League opponent Lafayette at the Hart Turf Field at 1:00 p.m.
