Men's Lacrosse Defeated By Colgate, 11-6

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Colgate, 11-6, this afternoon in Patriot league action at Hart Turf Field. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in the Patriot League, while the Raiders improve to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the Patriot League. Seniors John O'Sullivan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Billy Klotz (Derry, N.H.) each scored two goals for the Crusaders.

Colgate was led by Brandon Corp who scored three goals, while Matt Lalli and Trevor Marticke who each scored two goals.

The Raiders scored the first three goals of the game before Klotz made it a 3-1 game at 11:57 left in the second period. Colgate would add another goal before the half to make it a 4-1 score.

O'Sullivan cut the deficit to 4-2 with 10:28 on the clock in the third period with his first goal of the game, but Colgate would then go onto score seven straight goals and take an 11-2 lead. Holy Cross scored four unanswered goals to end the game with goals from freshman Brian Becker (Syracuse, N.Y.), Klotz, junior Paul LeBlanc (Lexington, Mass.) and O'Sullivan. LeBlanc's goal came on a man-up opportunity for the Crusaders.

Holy Cross senior goalie Matt Fallon (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) made five saves and allowed 10 goals in 46:16, while freshman Jimmy Harrison (East Williston, N.Y.) stopped three shots and allowed one goal in 9:50. Junior David Vafek (Michalovce, Slovakia) played the last 3:54 for the Crusaders. Colgate's Andrew Jarolimek made nine saves and Brian Cain stopped two shots.

Holy Cross went 1-1 on man-up opportunities and Colgate went 1-2. The Crusaders outshot the Raiders by a 32-25 margin.

The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, April 4, when they travel to New Haven, Conn., to face Yale at 7:00 p.m.
