ANNAPOLIS, Md.- The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to No. 8 Navy, 17-3, this afternoon in Patriot league action at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the Patriot League, while the Mids improve to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the Patriot League. Junior Paul LeBlanc (Lexington, Mass.) scored two goals and senior Billy Klotz (Derry, N.H.) scored one goal for the Crusaders.
Navy was led by Taylor Harris who scored six goals, while Ian Dingman and Nick Mirabito each scored three goals.
The Mids scored the first 11 goals of the game until LeBlanc scored his first goal of the game with 8:11 left in the third period. Navy then scored five straight goals to take a 16-1 lead with 12:22 left in the fourth period. LeBlanc netted his second goal of the game and fifth of the season with 8:08 left in the fourth period to make it a 16-2 score. After a goal by Navy, Klotz scored the final goal of the game and his seventh of the season with 3:26 left in the game for the 17-3 final score.
Senior goalie Matt Fallon (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) made 15 saves and allowed 15 goals in 46:11, while freshman Jimmy Harrison (East Williston, N.Y.) stopped two shots and allowed two goals in 13:49. Navy's Matt Russell made three saves and allowed one goal, while Colin Finnegan stopped four shots and allowed two goals.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, April 1, when they host Patriot League opponent Colgate at the Hart Turf Field at 4:00 p.m.
