DALLAS, Texas - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to No. 5 Navy, 12-2, in Patriot League action on Saturday afternoon in front of a crowd of 4,482 at SMU's Gerald J. Ford Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-5 overall (0-4 Patriot League), while the Midshipmen improve to 6-0 overall (3-0 Patriot League).
Holy Cross senior Tanner Fogarty (McMurray, Pa.) recorded one goal and one assist, while junior Oliver Schenkel (Garden City, N.J.) also scored a goal. Navy was led by Nick Mirabito's three goals and two assists, and by Ian Dingman's two goals and one assist.
The Midshipmen scored the first 10 goals of the game before Fogarty scored his first goal of the year in his first game of the season with 2:14 left in the fourth period. After a Navy goal, Schenkel netted his first goal of the season when he scored off a pass from Fogarty. The Mids then scored with 16 seconds remaining for the 12-2 final score.
Holy Cross sophomore goalie Jimmy Harrison (East Williston, N.Y.) made 13 saves, while Colin Finnegan stopped nine shots and allowed no goals in 56:14 for Navy. The Mids outshot the Crusaders by a 39-27 margin.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, March 31, when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa., to face Patriot League opponent Bucknell at 1:00 p.m.
