Men's Lacrosse Defeated By Colgate, 11-4

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Colgate, 11-4, in Patriot League action on Saturday afternoon at Tyler's Field. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-4 overall (0-3 Patriot League), while the Raiders improve to 4-1 overall (1-0 Patriot League). Senior Grant Cowherd (Summit, N.J.) scored two goals to lead the Crusaders, while senior Paul LeBlanc (Lexington, Mass.) and junior Tim Redmond (Andover, Mass.) each scored one goal.
Colgate was led by Brendan Hurley's four goals and Matt Lalli's three goals.
The Raiders scored the first seven goals of the game to take a 7-0 lead into the half. Holy Cross then scored four straight goals in the third period to cut the Colgate lead to 7-4. Cowherd put the Crusaders on the scoreboard at 1:02 into the period, followed by a goal from LeBlanc with 9:23 remaining. Cowherd then scored his second goal of the game with 1:58 on the clock, while Redmond netted his first goal of the season with one second left in the period. The Raiders would then go onto score four consecutive goals in the fourth period for the 11-4 final score.
Holy Cross sophomore goalie Jimmy Harrison (East Williston, N.Y.) made 18 saves, while Tim Harrington stopped one shot for the Raiders.
The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, March 13, when they host Wagner at the Hart Turf Field at 6:00 p.m.
