Baltimore, Md. - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team was defeated by Butler, 11-4, on Sunday, March 6 in a non-conference game held at the Boys' Latin School.
Three different players posted goals for the Crusaders. Junior Billy Klotz (Derry, N.H.) scored two goals and now leads the team with five, while sophomore Mike Moriarty (Fairfield, Conn.) and junior John O'Sullivan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) each tallied one.
Butler jumped on the board first, registering two goals in the first quarter. Holy Cross answered with two goals in the second, but was unable to catch the Bulldogs, as they netted four more to take a 6-2 lead at the end second quarter.
The Crusaders would score two additional goals in the second half to Butlers' five for a final score of 11-4.
Junior Matt Fallon (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) made 20 saves for the Crusaders, as Sam Ashley halted 10 shots on goal for the win.
Holy Cross takes on the Virginia Military Academy on March 9, in Lexington, Va., at 3:30 p.m. The Crusaders return home on Saturday, March 12 when they host Hartford at 3 p.m.
