Holy Cross Men's Lacrosse Falls To #3 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to No. 3 Duke, 20-2, this afternoon at Koskinen Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Blue Devils improve to 4-1. Senior captains John O'Sullivan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Billy Klotz (Derry, N.H.) each scored a goal for the Crusaders, while junior Paul LeBlanc (Lexington, Mass.) assisted on Klotz's goal.
Duke was led by Peter Lamade and Zack Greer who each scored three goals.
The Blue Devils scored seven unanswered goals to take a 7-0 lead into halftime. After four more goals by Duke to start off the third period, Klotz got the Crusaders on the board when he scored his second goal of the season with 8:35 left in the third period. LeBlanc's assist is his second of the year as he leads the team in scoring with two goals and two assists for four points.
Duke scored six straight goals before O'Sullivan netted his second goal of the season to make the score 17-2 with 12:34 left in the game. The Blue Devils scored three more goals to conclude the game.
Holy Cross senior goalie Matt Fallon (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) made 10 saves and allowed 11 goals, while freshman Jimmy Harrison (East Williston, N.Y.) stopped six shots and allowed nine goals. Duke's Dan Loftus made three saves and Rob Schroeder stopped four shots and allowed Holy Cross' two goals. Duke went 2-3 on extra-man opportunities, while Holy Cross went 0-3.
The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, March 11, when they host Vermont at the Hart Turf Field at 1:00 p.m.
