John Carroll is in his first season as assistnt men’s lacrosse coach at Holy Cross in 2014.
Carroll has worked for the past five years as a private lacrosse goalie coach teaching kids of all ages the proper mechanics, skills and techniques required to play goalie. He also spent the summers of 2011 and 2012 as an instructor at Pro Player Lacrosse Camps.
As a four-year member of the men’s lacrosse team at Albany as a goalie, he appeared in 46 games with 31 starts, finishing his career ranked sixth all-time in school history with 378 saves. Carroll’s best season came in 2010 when he started all 16 games for the Great Danes and recorded 185 saves. His 185 saves ranked eighth in Division I and 12th all-time in school history. He also ranked second in the America East Conference with a .514 save percentage and 11.6 saves per game.
A native of Nesconset, N.Y., Carroll attended Smithtown High School East where he played three seasons of varsity lacrosse as a goalie and three seasons of varsity football as a running back and linebacker. He was captain of both teams in his senior year.
Carroll is a 2012 graduate of Albany with a major in history, a concentration in United State history and a minor in journalism.
