Holy Cross Falls To Lehigh 20-4
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh's Dan Taylor totaled three goals and four assists, to lead the Mountain Hawks to a 20-4 victory over the Holy Cross men's lacrosse team at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Crusaders fall to 2-8 on the season and 0-5 in the Patriot League with the loss, while Lehigh improves to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Freshman attack Kevin Lux (Manlius, N.Y.) led Holy Cross with two goals on the afternoon, while sophomore midfielder Joe Reilly (Garden City, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Marc Buermann (West Caldwell, N.J.) added one goal each.
The Mountain Hawks opened the game by scoring the first six goals, to claim a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Lux put the Crusaders on the board with a pair of second quarter goals, but Lehigh was still able to increase its lead to 10-2 at halftime. The Mountain Hawks then ran off eight unanswered goals in the third quarter to go in front 18-2, before eventually claiming a 20-4 victory.
Sophomore goalie Michael Ortlieb (Newport Beach, Calif.) took the loss for Holy Cross, allowing 18 goals while making eight saves in 45 minutes of action. Matt Poillon earned the win for Lehigh, making five saves and giving up two goals in 45 minutes played.
Holy Cross returns to action next Saturday, April 5, when it plays host to Lafayette at 1:00 p.m.
