Men’s Lacrosse Names 2013 Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's lacrosse program has named seniors Myles Gillespie (Rye, N.Y.), John Hannan (Manhasset, N.Y.), James Kennedy (Summit, N.J.) and Daniel Schmader (Radnor, Pa.), as the 2013 team captains.

"I am pleased to announce Myles, John, James and Dan as our team captains for the 2013 season," said head coach Jim Morrissey. "These young men were elected by their teammates based on their work ethic, confidence and leadership. I expect these four to lead this team in a positive manner both on and off the field."

Gillespie has played in 41 career games for the Crusaders. He has scored 15 goals over the past three seasons, ranking fifth on the team last season with eight goals. He has also recorded six assists, picked up 11 ground balls and caused four turnovers.

Hannan has played in every game the past three seasons with 27 starts. He has scored 59 goals throughout his career, leading the team with a career-best 27 goals last season. Last season he was ranked second on the team with career-best 27 points and seventh in the Patriot League for goals per game with a 1.80 average. He had a career-best 26 ground balls, ranking fifth on the team. In 2011 he was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year with 23 points. 

Kennedy will be serving as team captain for his second season. He has played in all 45 games with 41 starts. He has recorded 64 goals throughout his career, with a career-best 23 goals last season. Last season he earned the team's Offensive Player of the Year with a career-best 42 points. He also had a career-best 19 assists. He was ranked seventh in the Patriot League with 1.27 assists per game and ranked eighth in the Patriot League with 2.80 points per game. Last year he was selected as a Division I Nike National Player of the Week. He has been named to the Patriot Academic Honor Roll two times.

Schmader has played in 27 games with eight starts. In 2011 he picked up a career-high nine ground balls and caused a career-best three turnovers. He was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2011 and 2012.
