Men's Lacrosse Falls To #18 Bucknell, 10-3

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bison outscored the Crusaders 7-1 in the first half and then 3-2 in the second as the Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to No. 18 Bucknell, 10-3, at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium in Patriot League action. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-9 (0-4 Patriot League), while the Bison improve to 9-2 (3-0 Patriot League).

The Crusaders were led by junior Andrew Morici (Manhasset, N.Y.) who scored two goals, while sophomore James Kennedy (Summit, N.J.) recorded two points with one goal and one assist. Senior Douglas Broussard (Floral Park, N.Y.) led the Crusaders with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. 

Mike Danylyshyn recorded three goals and two assists for five points to lead the Bison.

Bucknell scored the first four goals of the game before Kennedy made it a 4-1 score with 4:25 left in the second quarter. The Bison then responded by netting three straight goals to take a 7-1 lead to the half.

Bucknell tallied the first three goals of the second half to extend its lead to 10-1 with 9:25 remaining in the fourth quarter. Morici then scored two straight goals with his first being a man-up goal off a pass from junior Matt Boylan (Kings Park, N.Y.) with 4:47 left and his second off a pass by Kennedy with 2:10 remaining. Neither team would find the back of the net again for the 10-3 final.  

Sophomore goalie Mike Fisher (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made six saves and allowed seven goals in the first 30:00, while freshman Kenny O'Connor (Latham, N.Y.) had three saves and allowed two goals in 20:35, and senior Brandon DeLisio (Woodstock, N.Y.) allowed one goal in 9:25. Kyle Freeney earn the victory for the Bison as he made six saves and allowed one goal in 50:35, while Josh Briskman made one save and allowed two goals in 9:25. The Bison outshot the Crusaders by a 37-22 margin, while Bucknell secured 30 ground balls and Holy Cross tallied 25.

The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, April 5, when they travel to Burlington, Vt., to play Vermont at 4:00 p.m.
