Men's Lacrosse Picked Seventh In PL Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team has been picked to finish seventh in the 2011 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Army was picked to finish first as it earned 12 of 14 first place votes and 78 total points. Navy had one first place vote and 58 total points as it was picked to finish second, while Bucknell followed in third with one first place vote and 51 total points. Colgate (39 total points) was fourth, Lehigh (31 total points) was fifth, Lafayette (30 total points) was sixth and Holy Cross (13 total points) was seventh. Army swept the preseason awards as senior Jeremy Boltus was named the league's preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Bill Henderson was named the preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

"We are very excited to start the season and are looking forward to having a very good year," said head coach Adam Pascal on the Patriot League media teleconference. "We return a lot of experience at attack and at midfield. We are excited to play three of our first four games at home this season."

The Crusaders kick off the 2011 season when they play St. John's at Holy Cross Field on Saturday, Feb. 19 at noon. Holy Cross returns 27 letterwinners as 12 freshmen have joined the program. The Crusaders return five starters.
