Men's Lacrosse Drops 11-2 Contest To Bucknell
WORCESTER, Mass. – Ryan Klipstein scored five goals and Kyle Feeney stopped 12 shots for the Bison as the Holy Cross men’s lacrosse team fell to Bucknell, 11-2, in Patriot League action on Saturday afternoon at the new Holy Cross Field. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-8 overall (1-3 Patriot League), while the Bison improve to 6-4 overall (1-2 Patriot League).
Senior Kenny Minor (South Hadley, Mass.) and freshman James Kennedy (Summit, N.J.) each scored a goal for the Crusaders, while sophomore Colin McGeehin (Newtown Square, Pa.) posted an assist. Junior Douglas Broussard (Floral Park, N.Y.) picked up three ground balls to lead Holy Cross.
Mike Danylyshyn also recorded five
points for Bucknell with two goals and three assists.
After the Crusaders took a 1-0 lead on a man-up goal by Kennedy off an assist by McGeehin with 10:26 left in the first quarter, the Bison scored five straight goals to take a 5-1 advantage to the half.
After Bucknell scored the first two goals of the third quarter to increase its lead to 7-1, Minor netted Holy Cross’ last goal of the contest to make the score 7-2. The Bison scored one more goal in the third quarter and three more in the fourth for the 11-2 final score.
Holy Cross senior goalie Connor Sweeney (South Salem, N.Y.) made 12 saves, while Sam Finnell stopped two shots for Bucknell to go along with Klipstein’s 11 saves. The Bison outshot the Crusaders, 36-28, while the Crusaders went 1-5 on man-up opportunities and the Bison went 1-6. Bucknell picked up 27 ground balls and Holy Cross earned 23.
The Crusaders return to action when they play Vermont in non-conference action at the new Holy Cross Field on Tuesday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m.
