Crusaders Picked Seventh In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team has been picked to finish seventh in the 2010 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Navy was picked to finish first as it earned 11 of 14 first place votes and 71 total points. Bucknell had three first place votes and 63 total points as it was picked to finish second, followed by Colgate (48 total points), Army (45 total points), Lehigh (33 total points), Lafayette (22 total points) and Holy Cross (12 total points). Bucknell's Austin Winter was named the league's preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Navy's Jaren Woeppel was named the preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

"We are very excited for this season as we return a lot of experience and we expect to have a very strong defense and also return great offensive players," said sixth-year head coach Adam Pascal. "We are also excited about playing on our new field and have had some great practices on it so far."

The Crusaders kick off the 2010 season when they play at St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Holy Cross returns nine of 10 starters and 27 letterwinners from last season.
