Holy Cross Men's Lacrosse Names 2010 Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse program has named seniors Tim Barrar (West Chester, Pa.), Brendan Candon (Long Beach, N.Y.), Kenny Minor (South Hadley, Mass.) and Edison Parzanese (Edgartown, Mass.) as 2010 team captains.

Barrar, who is a defender, has played 40 career games with 35 starts. He has started 29 straight contests and has 53 career ground balls and one career assist. He is also a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll (2008 and 2009).

Candon, who is also a defender, has played 43 career games with 33 starts. For his career he has recorded two goals and four assists for six points, while he has 121 career ground balls. His 43 ground balls last season led the team and was a career-best just passing his 42 ground balls the year before. He is also a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll (2008 and 2009).

Minor is coming off a career season as he was tied for second on the team with 21 points. He also ranked third on the team with 15 goals and six assists. He has played 41 career games with 26 goals and 12 assists for 38 points. He was named to the 2009 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Parzanese, who missed most of last year due to an injury, led the team offensively during his first two seasons. As a freshman, he ranked first on the team with 48 points and 29 assists. As a sophomore, he led the team with 33 points and 21 assists. Even though he only played three games last season, Parzanese recorded eight goals and five assists for 13 points. For his career, he has 39 goals, 55 assists and 94 points. He is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.    

The Crusaders will play four scrimmages to prepare for the 2010 season. On Oct. 11, Holy Cross will compete at the Catamount Classic at Thayer Academy. The Crusaders will meet Albany at 11:00 a.m. on Field 3, Robert Morris at 12:00 p.m. on Field 4 and Le Moyne at 1:00 p.m. on Field 2. The Crusaders will then host McGill University on Oct. 17 at the new Synthetic Turf Field at 3:00 p.m.
