Adam Roy & Everett Sheen Earn Atlantic Hockey Weekly Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross freshman goalie Adam Roy (Feeding Hills, Mass.) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week and freshman forward Everett Sheen (Lethbridge, Alberta) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week for their performances at the Sheraton/TD Banknorth Catamount Cup at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vt., on December 29-30. This is the first time that Roy has received this honor as he was previously named the AHA Rookie of the Week once this season, while this is the third time this year that Sheen has been named the AHA Rookie of the Week.

Roy stopped 36 of 37 shots in the 1-1 tie with Vermont on Saturday night. He made 15 saves in the first period, 10 in the second, seven in the third and four in overtime. Roy is now 3-3-3 on the season.

Everett Sheen

Sheen scored both of Holy Cross' goals in the Catamount Cup. In the 1-1 tie with Vermont on Saturday night, Sheen gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead at the 5:45 mark of the third period, while on Sunday afternoon in the 1-1 tie with Western Michigan, he tied the game with 2:01 left in the third period when he scored a shorthanded goal. For his two goal performance, Sheen was named to the Catamount Cup All-Tournament Team. He has scored nine goals in the last six games as his 10 goals this season lead the team and are tied for second in the nation by rookies. His 10 goals are ranked first in Atlantic Hockey by freshmen and are tied for second overall in the conference.

The Crusaders (5-4-6 overall, 4-3-3 Atlantic Hockey) return to action on Friday and Saturday, January 4-5, when they host Atlantic Hockey opponent RIT at the Hart Center for two games. Both contests are set to start at 7:00 p.m. Holy Cross is on a six game unbeaten streak (1-0-5). The streak is currently tied for the second longest in the nation.
