Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross senior co-captain Tyler McGregor (Ajax, Ontario) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Association Player of the Week for his five goal performance in this past weekend's series with Mercyhurst at the Hart Center. The Crusaders split the series with the Lakers, as they earned a 10-3 victory on Friday night and fell 4-3 on Saturday night. Holy Cross is 5-2-0 overall and 4-2-0 in Atlantic Hockey.
McGregor netted a hat trick on Friday night, while on Saturday night he scored two goals. He now has 95 career points, making him five shy of becoming the 36th Crusader to reach 100 career points. This season he is tied for the lead on the team in points with 12 (7g, 5a), which is good for third in the AHA.
This is the third time that McGregor has received this honor. Last season, he was named Player of the week twice (1/3/05 & 1/17/05). McGregor was named to the 2004-05 Atlantic Hockey All-Conference first team.
The Crusaders return to action when they face Atlantic Hockey opponent American International, in a home-and-home series. Holy Cross will host the Yellow Jackets at the Hart Center on Friday, November 18, at 7:00 p.m., while AIC will host Holy Cross in Springfield, Mass., on Saturday, November 19, at 7:00 p.m.
