Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross senior goaltender Tony Quesada (South Freeport, Maine) and freshman forward Kai Magnussen (Okotoks, Alberta) have been honored by the Atlantic Hockey Association for their performances in Friday's 3-2 win over Massachusetts. Quesada was named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week, while Magnussen was selected as the Atlantic Hockey Co-Rookie of the Week.
Quesada made 22 saves in the season opening win. This marks the fourth time that he has been named Goaltender of the Week by the conference, as he was named once (1/3/05) in 2004-05 and twice (11/23/03 & 1/4/04) in 2003-04. As a freshman Quesada received MAAC Goalie of the Week honors once (10/28/02), and Rookie of the Week honors twice (11/4/02 and 3/3/03).
Magnussen scored the game-winning goal with 2:17 left in the third period, for his first collegiate goal. He played the 2004-05 season for the Weyburn Red Wings of the SJHL. Magnussen's team won the 2005 Royal Bank Cup as he led the team in scoring for the season with 20 goals and 35 assists for 55 points.
