WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross head men's hockey coach Paul Pearl and athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2007-08 season. There will be a total of 18 home games at the Hart Center for Holy Cross this season, beginning with an exhibition contest against Dalhousie University on Sunday, Oct. 7 and the season opener with Niagara on Oct. 13.
Once again the Crusaders will play a challenging non-conference schedule. Along with the Niagara game, Holy Cross will play Merrimack (12/4) and Quinnipiac (1/19) at the Hart Center, while it will play at Providence (10/20). The Crusaders will also compete at Vermont's Sheraton/TD Banknorth Catamount Cup with a game against the Catamounts (12/29) and either Western Michigan or Quinnipiac (12/30).
With 10 teams in Atlantic Hockey, the Crusaders will play an unbalanced conference schedule. Holy Cross will have four meetings with Army, Canisius, Connecticut, Mercyhurst and Sacred Heart, and two games versus AIC, Air Force, Bentley and RIT.
The 2008 Atlantic Hockey Tournament will now consist of a best two out of three quarterfinal round on March 6-8, while all five winners will move onto Rochester, N.Y. After the two lowest remaining seeds play each other on March 14, the winner will advance to the semifinals on March 15. The championship game will be on March 16 with the winner earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
