WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross head men's ice hockey coach Paul Pearl and athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2005-2006 season. There will be a total of 15 home games at the Hart Center for Holy Cross this season, beginning with an exhibition contest against Royal Military College on Oct. 14.
The Crusaders will take part in a pair of regular season tournaments this year, as they will travel to Troy, N.Y., for the Rensselaer Holiday Tournament (Nov. 25-26), and to Columbus, Ohio, for the Ohio Holiday Classic (Dec. 29-30). The Rensselaer Holiday Tournament will include Nebraska-Omaha, Providence and Rensselaer, while the Ohio Holiday Classic will involve Miami (Ohio), Ohio State and Rensselaer. Other non-conference games for Holy Cross this year include the regular season opener at Massachusetts on Oct. 21, and a trip to Dartmouth on Jan. 21.
In Atlantic Hockey action, the Crusaders will face each of the seven other teams in the league four times this season, with two games coming at home and two on the road. Conference play begins with a home game against Army on Oct. 28, and concludes with a contest at Bentley on March 4.
The 2005 Atlantic Hockey Tournament begins with quarterfinal round action on March 10 and 11. Semifinal round games will be played on March 17, with the championship game set to take place on March 18. The winner of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins on March 24.
Holy Cross is coming off a 2004-2005 season in which it had an overall record of 16-14-6, and placed fourth in Atlantic Hockey with a 12-7-5 mark in league games.
