HC Names Jason Smith Assistant Men's Hockey Coach

WORCESTER, Mass. - The College of the Holy Cross has named Jason Smith as an assistant men's ice hockey coach, as announced by head coach Paul Pearl and Athletic Director Richard M. Regan, Jr. Smith will serve as the recruiting coordinator.
Smith comes to Holy Cross from Babson College, where he was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the last four seasons. Babson won the 2007 ECAC East Championship earning its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1993. In total Babson reached the ECAC East Finals in three of the four seasons Smith was a part of the program. He previously served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Salem State College for four years.
A native of West Yarmouth, Mass., Smith graduated from Salem State in 1998 where he was a three-year member of the hockey team and was a captain as a junior and senior. Smith led the team in scoring in the 1996-97 season. He also played at UMass-Amherst in the 1993-94 season.
The 2007-08 Crusaders will look to the leadership of senior captain Matt Burke (Milton, Mass.) and assistant captains Dale Reinhardt (Livingston, N.J.) and Matt Werry (Regina, Saskatchewan). The Crusaders will return three of their top five point scorers from a year ago.
