BOSTON COLLEGE EAGLES

  • The Eagles advance to their third straight Frozen Four, they have defeated Miami in each of the last three years to get there, which included two meetings in the NCAA Regional Final. York has posted a 27-18 all-time record in the NCAA's with tonight's win, which includes a 21-8 record while at BC.
  • It marks the program's 21st all-time appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four. The Eagles have won two NCAA titles (1949, 2001) and finished runner-up six times. BC becomes the 31st team in Hockey East history to appear in the Frozen Four, the Eagles account for 10 of those Frozen Four berths.
  • The Eagles now own a 38-37 all-time in the NCAA tournament play.
  • Scored three goals in a period (second) for the 15th time this season.
  • Junior forward Nathan Gerbe scored his 30th goal of the season and the third point of the NCAA Tournament with the game-tying goal with 2:58 left in the second period. Gerbe is the active NCAA tournament scorer for the Eagles with 11 points (6g,5a) in 10 games. He extended his overall point scoring streak to seven games with the goal tonight.
  • The Eagles have played 14 overtime games this season and they own a 4-3-7 record in those games.
  • Freshman forward Joe Whitney scored the game-winner for his third point of the tournament and second goal with 7:48 left in overtime.

    MIAMI RED HAWKS

  • Miami ends its season at 33-8-1.
  • The Red Hawks allowed three goals in a period only the fourth time this season.
  • It marked the fifth overtime game this year and the second of the tournament for them. Miami owns a 3-1-1 record in overtime games this year. It was their first loss of the season in overtime.
