WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's hockey team is ranked No. 20 in the latest USCHO.com/CSTV Division I Men's Poll released on Monday afternoon. The Crusaders received 26 points to tie Bemidji State. This marks the first time in the program's history that Holy Cross has been ranked in this poll.
The No. 1 seeded Crusaders (24-9-2) are set to host No. 6 Connecticut (11-22-2) in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament Semifinals at the Hart Center on Friday, March 17, at 4:00 p.m. Holy Cross won the season series with the Huskies, 3-1-0. Following the Holy Cross-Connecticut contest, No. 2 seed Mercyhurst will face No. 4 seed Bentley at 7:30 p.m. The winners of Friday's semifinal contests will meet in the championship game on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
Holy Cross' 24 wins is a new school record as both the 1998-99 and 2003-04 teams each won 22 games. The Crusaders earned the top-seed by winning their second Atlantic Hockey regular season title in three years. The senior class has been a part of 79 wins, which are the most wins in a four year period in the program's history. The Crusaders are 5-1-0 all-time in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament, including winning the inaugural tournament in 2004 and earning the program's first-ever spot in the NCAA Tournament.
